Great Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving!  Spent with family, friends and good food!!!  I had to work the night before and the night of Thanksgiving so in order to help out with the cooking, I cooked a few things on Wednesday.  Then when I got home Thursday morning I spent some time with the kids then went downstairs for some sleep.  I awoke to the smell of good food and the laughter of the kids and grandkids playing video games.  What a nice way to wake up.  When dinner was over and all recovered from eating we put up the Christmas tree.  It's beautiful and family time is priceless. I hope each of you had a great day and made lots of memories to hold onto and to share.  Remembering that this time of year is more about love of family and friends, than money and the things that it can buy will make you a happier and healthier person.

Family Traditions

I was sitting here thinking about family traditions.  When I had my own home and my Mom was alive, we always put the Christmas tree up the weekend  before Christmas and took it down January 2nd.  I had glass ornaments with everyone's birthday on them and as they got there for our annual gathering they put there ornament on the tree.  Now that my Mom has passed away that tradition is gone.  My house is also gone! I have a few ornaments that mean a lot to me and we are going to put them on my son's tree this year and I will put up the little tree that my Mom and I had for years downstairs in my apartment.  I hope and pray that the next ten years of my life are much better than the last ten years!  Have a blessed day and I hope your Holiday Season is filled with love, laughter and family.   Start traditions, tell stories and make memories.  Life is to short not to let those who are close to you know how much you care.

Holidays Are Hard

The Holidays were my Mom's favorite time of year.  She would start cooking the week before Thanksgiving and the once a year food didn't stop until after New Years Day!  There was all kinds of meats, veggies and of course the sweet stuff!!!!  Fried Apple pies were always there, real homemade banana pudding(not the jello version), you name it cakes, candy and it wouldn't be Christmas without her potato candy.  Oh and my son's favorite was the pinch cake(monkey bread) that was made to start the day! Since she passed away a few years ago Thanksgiving and Christmas just haven't been the same. The weekend before Christmas was out annual big family gathering it was the one time of year that we all put away our differences and acted like a real family.  We haven't done that since she passed away, she was the glue that held us all together and without her we do not have a common bond.  I miss my Mom and my Dad and the Holidays are hard for me.  I sometimes close my eyes

Someplace New

My ex was always talking about Canada, and hunting there.  I have given it a lot of thought and I may just go up and stay there for a while. Looking through Calgary apartments for rent has given me a wide range to choose from.  I still haven't made up my mind. I don't know if I want to stay in the city or really get out in the country.  I am a country girl, but Calgary has so much to offer and the change of pace might be good for me.  I guess the next step would be to find a job there.  Wish me luck!
