Tired and Depressed

This weekend brought both sorrow and happiness.  We celebrated my youngest granddaughter's ninth birthday which was a happy occasion, but Sunday also marked the sixth anniversary of my Mom's death. My day started with my oldest son and I taking a rose out to the cemetery.  I cried almost all the way home.  I put on my happy face so I wouldn't ruin the activities of the day, but it was really hard.  My Mom meant the world to me!  All the memories of the way my siblings and Pop treated me after she had her last stroke came flooding back.  I really thought I had locked those up and thrown away the key. My Mom was my best friend, and I miss her!  Can't seem to shake the sadness, it's like a dark cloud hanging over me.

Rainy Day

It's another rainy day here!  I love the rain and even enjoy the sights and sounds of a thunder storm.  Strong winds are what unnerve me.  So far we haven't had any really rough winds, and I am very thankful of that.  Last April this area was hit by a tornado that destroyed a lot of homes and took several lives.  I pray that those types of storms don't come this way again. I can remember as a child whenever a storm started brewing my Mom would gather us all together in one room and that would be where we all stayed until the storm passed.  She was a wise and brave woman.  She said she wasn't afraid of the storms and up until she had her first stroke it didn't seem to matter how bad they got, she didn't seem to get worried.  Then after her stroke, the slightest little thunder storm really bothered her.  I hated that I had to work and leave her alone for eight hours.  A neat thing about thunder storms....when you hear the first clap of thunder start counting 1

Chain of Command

I have never really been very good at following the chain of command.  It has at times gotten me into a bit of a pickle!  My Dad said if you wanted something done you had to start at the top because *@#! rolls down hill.  He was right!  I hate to be sent running around the bush and put on hold or I'll call you back.  It is usually a waste of time trying to follow all the proper protocols. Just like now, the company I work for is planning on remodeling our store this summer.  They say that they are going to add a restaurant and I would like a shot at that management position.  I have the experience that it would take to run it, but no one wants to tell me the proper channels to go through in order to put my resume in for that position.  Drives me insane!! Say a little prayer for me.  I could use the extra money and the health benefits that would come with the job.

Old Ford Truck

As I have written before my guys have a thing for restoring older cars and trucks.  My son finally got his "71 C10 back on the road.  They shot a coat of flat black primer on it to hold it over til this summer.  Warmer weather brings out sanding and painting.  They just finished a Chevelle for one of the guys.  One of the other boys has a 70 El Camino in the shop now.  My grandson has been working on each of these vehicles right along with his Uncle and his friends.  So as their birthday gift to him they are all going to help him on his truck.  He has a '64 Ford.  It needs a lot of love so plans are when the weather warms up enough for bringing out the grill and working outside, everyone is going to get his on the road.  Right now it looks kinda pitiful!  All the tires are flat and dry rotted, the rear main seal leaks and it needs brakes.  He will get to see how working hard on other people stuff can pay off. Oh by the way the only thing that my grandson wanted for Christm

Computer Viruses

With all the computer viruses out there, some of which fries your computer, I have been staying off the computer.  As I've mentioned before I live with my son and his family.  All of their computers are on the same network, so if one gets a virus they all get it!!  No thank you! I would not want to be the cause of a crash or make extra work for them. He says everything should be okay as long as I don't download anything without showing him what it is first.  So maybe I can get back to writing on a regular basis.  I want to thank all of my readers for staying with me even when I go through a spell of not writing.  I work crazy hours and sometimes I just can't seem to find the time to sit down and get started.  I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed day.
