Rock Island

My grandson, one of his friends and my son, have all worked very hard today on making an island in the yard. Several months ago one of James' friends gave him several loads of landscaping rock, and one of the things we wanted to do was go around the pampas grass and birdbath with a rock patio.  Dustin did a lot of digging to get the ground ready and today he saw his hard work pay off.  Neither my grandson nor his friend have ever laid out rock for anything like this, so I had a lot of fun teaching them how to put things together.  I told them it was just like a jigsaw puzzle and they had to look for the rock that would fit the best.  By the end of the day they were cruising along without to much help from me. When my son finished his last appointment he came out and they got it 90 percent done.  When you stand back away from it, it looks like a rock island in a sea of green. Like I've said a million times, "you have to give every credit to those who influence you in a po

Picking Blueberries

As I stood there picking blueberries all I could think about was the memories that were flooding my mind.  I thought about the time that I spent the night with Faye to go to the fair and the next day her dad fired up the grill and we cooked hot dogs.  He used to call me Tiny, and told me big surprises came in small packages.  If he could only see me know!!  I am a far cry from being that tiny girl who aggravated him all those years ago.  I thought about Tweety-Bird the canary that they had, and the hours that we sat in Faye's room  listening to music and just talking girl stuff. Good friends are hard to come by and I'm so glad she's mine.  Faye is really more like a sister than a friend.  She and I have shared a lot of good times and hard times.  Her Mom is not in good health so if you are reading this please put my friend and her mom in your prayers.  Thanks for stopping by!  God Bless each and everyone of you.

My Tree House

The picture on this blog is of what used to be shooting house that I hunted from.  I did a lot of thinking there as well as watching some great sunrises and sunsets.  Although I no longer hunt from that house the picture will remain on my blog because that is where the title of the web site came from. I was sitting in that very house/stand early one morning when a Red Tail Hawk swooped in and picked up a squirrel and took off with him.  It's the same place where I shot several good bucks and watched the turkeys come and go.  I even shot a wild hog coming out of my stand late one evening.  So that places has some very special memories and as we go along I'll share some with you.
